He was born Jan. 23, 1923, in Fairmont, a son of the late Hood and Grace Eddy Michael.
He was a member of the Crossroads Baptist Church in Palm Harbor, Fla. He retired from the Eastern Associated Coal Co. in Rachel as a preparation plant foreman.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, having served during World War II. He enjoyed bowling and watching football, especially Tampa Bay and West Virginia University.
Mr. Michael is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Thomas H. Michael Jr. and Carol of Clearwater, Fla., and Ronald D. Michael Sr. and Margaret of Beckley; five grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Zana Thorne Michael; two brothers, Victor and Russell Michael; and three sisters, Mary White, Frieda Shaffer and Wanda Lee Owens. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
Friends may call from 6-9 p.m. Wednesday and 10-11 a.m. Thursday at at the Frey Home For Funerals (Addition Chapel), 320 Madison St., Fairmont. Services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at the funeral home with Pastor Gary Williams officiating. Interment will follow at the Shinnston Masonic cemetery with full military rites being presented by the Marion County Veterans Council Burial Team. Pallbearers will be Duane Michael, Ben Hudnall, Michael Vass, Dallas Tucker, Larry Tucker and David White.
