Elmo Eugene Sheffield, Sr., 85, of Perry, MO died at 10:10 A.M. Sunday, April 25, 2010 at Westview Nursing Home in Center, Missouri.

Graveside Services will full Military Honors by Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post #55 will be held at 3:00 P.M.Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal, MO. Mr. Sean Cotton will officiate.

Visitation will be held Tuesday from 2:00 P.M. until 3:00 P.M. at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal, MO.

Mr. Sheffield, Sr. was born October 22, 1924, in Hannibal, Missouri to Thomas and Zola Hartman Sheffield.

He was married to Alta Mae O'Brien on February 12, 1944. She survives.

Other survivors include a daughter, Patricia Cotton (Robert), Perry, Missouri; sons , Elmo Euguene Sheffield, Jr. (Sherrie), Hannibal, Missouri; Michael L. Sheffield (Reva), Paris, Missouri; and David C. Sheffield (Sharon), Hannibal, Missouri; Nine grandchildren, Sean Cotton (Lisa) , Kristen L. Allred (David), Scott Cotton (Stephanie), Dana Sheffield (Marsha), Chris Sheffield (Marcy), Brandon Sheffield (Jeanne), Michael L. Sheffield, Jr. (Tara), Marc Acosta (Lucie), Michelle Sheffield, Eight Great-Grandchildren, Paige Cotton, Owen Allred, Calvin Allred, Gabriella C. Sheffield, Michael L. Sheffield, III, Alexander David Acosta, Evan Acosta and Caitlynn Acosta. He is also survived by one brother, Oliver Sheffield (Joyce), Hallsville, Missouri. and numerous nieces and nephews

Mr. Sheffield was preceded in death by six sisters, one brother and one grandson, Steven Sheffield.

Mr. Sheffield served in the Army Air Corp during World War II in Burma. He worked for several years at Gilmore Implement Company in Perry, Missouri as a mechanic and parts manager. Upon his retirement, he enjoyed performing small engine mechanics. He liked to travel and to go camping, boating and water skiing. He especially loved dancing and was an avid fan of Cardinal baseball. He also enjoyed to buying and selling things. Mr. Sheffield was a Baptist by faith.

Pallbearers will be Scott Cotton, Dana Sheffield, Chris Sheffield, Brandon Sheffield, Michael L. Sheffield Jr., and Marc Acosta.
