*************************************

Charles Bonneau, a Revolutionary War patriot, was born on Dec. 14, 1714 in Quebec, New France (now Canada). He is thought to be the son of Jean Baptiste Bonneau (1682- ?) and Marie Madeline Moreau (1692-1735).

On July 13, 1787 Vincennes became a part of the newly formed Northwest Territory. On July 4, 1800 Vincennes was located in what was then called Indiana Territory. Indiana was not granted statehood until Nov. 7, 1816.

Charles died on Aug. 2, 1874 in Ft. Vincennes which at the time still belonged to the French and was a part of Quebec, New France.

Charles is thought to be buried in The Old Cathedral "French and Indian" Cemetery in Versailles. Almost all of the over 4,000 burials in that old cemetery are now unmarked.

His daughter Anne Jeanettee "Janne" Dubois is buried there and has one of the few readable markers. Her husband Toussaint Dubois (1751-1816) is thought to be buried there as well.
