She was born in June 1853 as Trijntje Hoek in the country village Ursem in the midnorthern part of the Dutch western province Noord-Holland, daughter of the 32 years aged watermiller (watermolenaar) Jacob Hoek and Maartje Houtkooper. She is named for her paternal grandmother Trijntje Swart.
On 11 June 1855 Trijntje (2 y), her father Jacob Hoek (34 y, loafer), her mother Maartje Houtkoop (29 y) and her brother Bankras (3 y) arrived on the schooner Tarolinta at the port of New York, Castle Garden.
In 1860 Cathar Hock (7 y) lived with her parents and four siblings in the Township of Worth, post office Blue Island, Cook County, Illinois, just south of Chicago, northwest of Thornton Township and west of Calumet Township.
In June 1870 Catharine (17 y, born in Holland), her father Jacob Hook (49, Holland, farmer), her mother Mary (43, Holland), and her siblings Derrick (14, Illinois), William (11, Illinois), Cornelius (10, Illinois), Peter (9, Illinois), Simon (7, Illinois), Cornelia (3, Illinois) and Jacob (0, Illinois) lived at a rented home in Calumet Township, Cook County, Illinois, just southeast of Chicago.
In 1880 Catharine (27 y), her husband John Blink (27, born in the Netherlands too, farmer), their children Anna (5, Illinois), Jacob (3, Illinois), Michael (2, Illinois) and Benjamin (0, Indiana) lived in North Township, Lake County, in the utter northwestern part of Indiana.
After 1880 she had in Indiana four more children: Mary (born ca. 1881), Ellen (ca. 1883), Dick (ca. 1885) and Nellie (ca. 1887).
Katharine died in April 1888 at the age of 34 years, very probabably in Indiana, Lake County. Her widower John Blink died in July 1938 at the age of almost 85 years in the village of Lansing, nowadays a southern suburb of Chicago, Cook County, Illinois.
