John served with the 1st Canadian Motor Machine Gun Brigade. He was 35.

His two brothers, Gunner Allan Adie
and Private Archibald William Adie also fell, as did their cousin, Lieutenant Harry Morton Ellis Adie

They were sons of John A. and Frances M. Adie, of St. Catharines, Ontario.
