Boletta (Betty) Beech aka "The Cookie Lady" Our beloved mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Boletta (Betty) Beech, passed away Saturday, April 29, 2006. She is now free to run and walk again with the many family and friends that she loved and missed. Betty was born December 1, 1923, the daughter of Joseph Vincent Gaillard and Anna Catherine Best. She spent her childhood years in Price, Utah. She married her eternal sweetheart, Ernest Henry Beech, January 6, 1946. They were sealed for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple December 20, 1963 and spent nearly 60 wonderful years together. They spent 50 of those years living in Kearns, Utah with their many friends in the Kearns 10th Ward. Betty was known for her wonderful cooking and service to others. She always shared her famous chocolate chip cookies, homemade breads and candy with all the family, many friends and friends of friends throughout the years. She was also active in serving in the VFW Auxiliary for more than 25 years. Betty had many "loves" in her life. Other than family, she loved to bowl and was pretty good at it too! She accumulated hundreds of trophies. She also had a gift for embroidery. Family and friends across the country have many of the tablecloths, kitchen towels and pillow cases she made, which will now be treasured forever. Betty was also known for her love of roses. She always took great pride in her many beautiful rose bushes. Betty incorporated her love of cooking in almost everything she did, including during her working years. She managed two of Clarks Cafeteria's and managed the cafeteria at Surety Life until she retired. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She and Henry served as temple workers at the Jordan River Temple.
She will be missed by her children, Lynda (Lee) Thompson, JoAnn (Dirk) Van Adrighem, Susan (Kevin) Thurgood and Scott (Cheryl) Beech. Betty loved her 26 grandchildren and her 35 great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her dear brother, Gordon (Diane) Best; and her two wonderful sisters, Margaret Fullmer and Elsie Gaillard.
She was preceded in death by the "love of her life," Henry. Also preceding her in death were her three brothers, Art, Joseph and Bert Gaillard. She was also preceded in death by a grandson, Sheldon Thurgood. Her family is grateful for the friends she had at her last "home", Country Care, in Farmington, Utah. They are also grateful for the care she received at the Avalon Nursing Home, Lakeview Hospital, Applegate Home Health and Dr. Grant Christian in Bountiful, Utah. Betty's children wish to also express their gratitude to the many loving people who helped their mother during the past few years. They have been true blessings in the life of their mother. A viewing will be held Tuesday, May 2, 2006 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 3, 2006 at the Kearns 10th Ward Chapel, located at 5025 West 4865 South at 10:00 a.m. A viewing will be held prior to the services at 9:00 a.m. Interment Valley View Memorial Park.
