Funeral Held Here Thursday for Californian
Funeral services were conducted at First Baptist Church in Wellington Thursday, Feb at 2 pm for Scott Lee Gardner of Lament, Calif., who lived in the Arlie community many years. Me died in a Bakersfield, Calif., hospital Feb 6, The Rev. Howard Cooper, pastor of Faith Baptist Church, officiated, and burial was In the Arlie Cemetery under the direction of Kelso Funeral Home.
Pallbearers were Jake Lawrence, George Scott, Leo Wyrick, Paul Guthrie, Guyon Norman and L. V. Kitchens.
Mr. Gardner was born April 12, 1885 in Louisville, Ky. He farmed at Arlie until moving to California in 1942. Mr. Gardner was a member of the Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Mamie Gardner of Lament; a son and daughter, Hubert Lee Gardner of Bakersfield and Mrs. Lois Harris of Vega; a brother and four sisters: Hale Gardner of Ravenna; Mrs. Lula Phillips of Gillham, Ark.; Mrs. Kate Barber of Big Spring; Mrs. Mary Lefors of Dallas and Mrs. June Alexander of Brawley, Calif. There are 8 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
