Barbara Anne Coppedge Auffenberg, 82, Clayton, fortified with the Sacraments of Holy Mother Church Sunday, March 18, 2012.
Born in Jacksonville, Fla. in 1930, she was the beloved wife of the late James A. Auffenberg for 61 years.
She is survived by five children, James Jr. and wife Ellen and their children, Claire Foehrkalb and husband Preston, Matthew and Michael; Thomas and spouse Dale and their children, Ryan and wife Anna, Greg and wife Carolyn, Beth and David; Christopher and wife Patricia and their son, Christopher Jr.; Joseph; and Anne Rabenberg and her children, Maggie, Timothy and Ellie; her brother, James W. Coppedge and wife Mary, Jacksonville, Fla.; her brother-in-law, Robert J. Auffenberg; her sisters-in-law, Josephine and Sharon Auffenberg; numerous nieces and nephews; other relatives and many friends.
Mrs. Auffenberg was preceded in death by her husband, James; her parents, James H. and Anna M. Coppedge; her brother, Robert E. Coppedge; her brothers-in-law, Francis and Henry Auffenberg; and her sister-in-law, Marquita Auffenberg.
The family would like to sincerely thank Deb Twellman. They will be forever grateful for her loving care and concern for their mother. They also would like to thank the many doctors and other caregivers, especially Dr. Matthew Orland and Dr. Shiraz Daud.
Mrs. Auffenberg was a graduate of Marymount High School, Tareytown, N.Y., and she attended Maryville University, St. Louis. During her life she was a member of Immacolata Catholic Church, Richmond Heights, and St. Joseph's Catholic Church, Clayton.
Her primary passion in life was being a loving, caring wife, mother and grandmother. She also enjoyed spending time with her relatives and many friends, traveling to her home state of Florida and other places and volunteering.
She was particularly dedicated to organizations serving the developmentally disabled and was a founding board member of St. Louis ARC. She will be dearly missed by all.
