I was only 12 when my mother died, but I still remember a lot of the good times we had together. Mom was a very loving and out-going person, she had a lot of friends. She had three brothers; Clarence, Alvin and Carl, and two sisters, June and Margret. I remember at the funeral there were a lot of people and cars when we arrived at the cemetery. She loved to sing and play the guitar. I think Christmas was the best time of year for her. She loved Christmas. I can remember how she would decorate the house and tree for days. She would spend hours putting icicles on the tree, every one had to be put on one at a time. That time of the year was always a happy time for us. Dad, Don and myself used to go around and pull cars out of the ditches in the winter time, just to be doing something. She loved children, hers and everybody else's.
It was a very sad day when she died. She died of cancer and because she had suffered for so many years, it was a blessing when she went home to our Father. I remember my dad telling us after she died that she had a light glow all around her just before she died. Don and myself were staying with Uncle Al and Aunt Verna when she died, Dad came out there very early morning. Mom and Dad had three children Dennis, Don and Dean. Dean died shortly after he was born, they said he was a blue baby. Our memories of her will never be forgotten.
