Melba Rodgers Spear Beasley of Dothan, passed away Tuesday, March 30, 2010, at her home. She was 87. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 3, 2010, at Ridgecrest Baptist Church with Revs. Ray Jones and Tim Willis officiating. Following the service, a private graveside service will be held at Bellwood Cemetery in Bellwood, AL. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the church. Flowers will be accepted or contributions may be made to Ridgecrest Baptist Church Building Fund at 1231 Fortner St. Dothan, AL 36301, or to Wiregrass Hospice, P.O. Drawer 2127, Dothan, AL 36302. Mrs. Beasley was born January 6, 1923, in Tennille, AL. She was a 1941 graduate of Dothan High School and lived in Geneva for a number of years. She was retired form South Trust Bank. She is preceded in death by her parents, James Arthur and Myrtie Belle Fuller Rodgers, brother, James Edward (PeeWee) Rodgers, & husbands, Oscar Spear, Jr, and W.W. Beasley. Survivors include: daughters, Carol Fain (Jake), Judy Miller, June Hirst (Des), Nancy Garvin (Dennis); son, Roger Spear (Bonnie); seven grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; sister-in-law; two nieces, and a nephew also survive. Ward Wilson Memory Hill Funeral Home, Cemetery & Crematory, (334) 792-4194, is in charge of arrangements.
