Carole Jean Belland, 85, 1011 Washington Ave, Escanaba, passed away on Friday morning, January 10, 2014 at OSF St. Francis Hospital.

She was born on July 1, 1928 in Escanaba, daughter to Richard and Pearl (Gustafson) DeMars. Carole graduated from Escanaba High School.

On March 31, 1951, the former Carole Jean DeMars married Robert "Bob" Belland. He preceded her in death in March of 1985.

Carole did not work for a living; however, she felt it was her job to "cause trouble" and "stir the pot".

Carole made an impact on anyone who met her. She was a caring soul and gave to so many and expected nothing in return. She will be missed dearly.

Among survivors include her son, Steve "Pepper" (Cristie) Belland of Cedar Rapids, IA; daughter in law, Debbie Belland of Escanaba; brother, Dale (Sharon) DeMars of Escanaba, Pudge (Elaine) DeMars of Rockford, IL, Bob (Barb) DeMars of Grafton, WI, Mike (Bette) DeMars of Escanaba; sister in law, Lori DeMars of Escanaba; sisters, Joanne (Vick) Pearson of Rapid River, Pat (Lee) Grover of Escanaba and Karen (Hank) Beaumier of Gwinn, MI.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Robert "BJ"; brothers, Gigi DeMars and Richard "Bun" DeMars; and sister, Mimi Forvilly.

Visitation will be on Wednesday, January 15th from 2 to 4:30 p.m. at the Crawford Funeral Home in Escanaba. The Mass of Christian Buriall will follow at 5 p.m. at St. Thomas the Apostle Church with Rev. Rick Courier officiating. A luncheon will follow in the church hall.

Burial will be in Gardens of Rest Cemetery.

On behalf of the family, a heartfelt thank you to the staff at Christian Park Health Care Center. Although Carole would have preferred to be home, you did a great job of making her "feel" at home.

In lieu of flowers, a memorial will be established at a later date in Carole's name.

The Crawford Funeral Homes are assisting the Belland family.
