Billy Rex Browngard Hannibal June 13, 1923 - Jan. 25, 2008 HANNIBAL - Billy Rex Browngard, 84, of Hannibal, died at 9:20 p.m. Friday, Jan. 25, 2008, at Luther Manor in Hannibal. Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 29, at Grand View Funeral Home in Hannibal. The Rev. Tim Goodman will officiate. Burial, with full military honors provided by Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post No. 55 and Hannibal Memorial V.F.W. Post No. 1142, will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal. Visitation will be from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Jan. 28, at Grand View Funeral Home, where there will be a Masonic Service at 7:30 p.m. Mr. Browngard was born on June 13, 1923, the son of William C. Browngard and Mabel Hankins Browngard. He married Marjorie C. Minor on Nov. 3, 1957, in Hannibal. She preceded him in death on Aug. 11, 2000. He was survived by his sister-in-law, Jane Stutsman of Hannibal; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death also by his parents; and a brother, Gene Browngard. Mr. Browngard was a graduate of Hannibal High School. He attended Hannibal-LaGrange College in Hannibal and later graduated from the University of Missouri at Rolla as an electrical engineer. He worked for many years at the Northeast Electric Power Co-op in Palmyra before retiring in 1988. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps, serving in World War II and the Korean Conflict. He was a CFC gunner on a B-29 Combat Crew. He was a life-long member of the old Southside Christian Church in Hannibal, which would become the Clover Road Christian Church. He was a 60-year member of the Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post No. 55, a member and 32nd Degree Mason at the St. Johns Lodge No. 28 AF and AM. He was also a member of the NEMO Shrine. He was past president of the Northeast Chapter of Professional Engineers, and past secretary of S.E.L.F. of Rolla, and a member of the Kappa Alpha Fraternity. He was a 50-year alumni of the University of Missouri Rolla, and a member of the alumni association, where he served as secretary for several years. He love to fish and hunt. Memorials maybe made to either the Shriners Childrens Hospital or to Clover Road Christian Church.
