SAN ANTONIO--Memorial services for Gilbert "Gib" Lee Gray, 73, of Lakehills, who died Monday in a San Antonio hospital, will be Thursday at 4 p.m. at Grimes Funeral Chapel in Bandera with the Rev. B. J. Rogers officiating.
Born Jan 2, 1920 in Bandera, Mr. Gray was a lifetime resident of Bandera County. He served in the U.S. Navy in World War II, and was a director for the Bandera Electric Coop for twenty years. He was a volunteer for the Medina Lake Volunteer Fire Department, where he served as secretary-treasure and president. He and his wife had owned and operated the Red Hen and Old Rooster Restaurants in Lakehills and the Cozy Corner Café in Hondo. He was a member of the Lakehills United Methodist Church.
Survivors include his wife, Nora Lee Gray of Lakehills; two daughters, Cindy Lee Gray and Duna Lee Morris and her husband Brett; two grandchildren, Jason and Kelsey Morris; a niece and nephew, Peggy and Earl Heinen; a brother Cob Gray of Houston; a sister-in-law, Carol Lobert; and numerous other relatives.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Leonard; and a sister, Ada.
Memorials may be made to the Lakehills United Methodist Church Building Fund, Medina Lake Volunteer Fire Department, or the Medina Lake EMS.
Grimes Funeral Chapel in Bandera is in charge of arrangements.
