Guy Arndt, 86, of 511 Locust St., Columbia, PA died on Wednesday at Conestoga View where he has been residing for the past 7 years. He was the husband of the late Shirley Hooper Arndt who preceded him in death in 2000. Born in Manheim, he was the son of the late Ephraim and Elizabeth Reigle Arndt. He was a self-employed painter until an injury prevented him from painting. He retired from the maintenance department of Wyeth Labs. He served his country in the U.S. Coast Guard during WWII having served in the Asiatic/Pacific Theater of Operations. He was a member of the Red Rose Memorial Post #2435 VFW in Columbia. He had a passion for his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Guy enjoyed greeting people as they entered Conestoga View and was loved by everyone he came in touch with. The family extends their gratitude to the entire staff at Conestoga View for the excellent care given to Guy during his stay.

Surviving is 1 son: Thomas R. "Bookie" Arndt of Columbia and 2 sisters: Annie wife of Carl Haug and Helen Arndt, both of Columbia. Also surviving are 3 Grandchildren: Dena, Natalie and Theresa and 4 Great-Grandchildren: Khadija, Owen, Trevar and Renee. He was predeceased by the following siblings: Violet, Ray, Harry, Clayton, Susan and William.

Funeral Services for Guy will be held from the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, Inc., 519 Walnut St., Columbia, PA on Monday, June 2, 2008 at 1:00 PM with the Rev. Deborah L. Brumbaugh officiating. Interment will be in Silver Spring Cemetery. Friends may call at the Clyde W. Kraft Funeral Home, Inc. on Monday from 12:00 PM- 1:00PM. The family requests that flowers be omitted. Memorial contributions in Guy's memory to Conestoga View Residents Fund, 900 E. King St., Lancaster, PA 17602 would be deeply appreciated.
