Jonathan was the son of John Hoffman and Anna Enterline. He was the spouse of Catharine Hoffman.
Johnathan is buried near his parents' graves in Bowerman's cemetery, next to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, in Enterline, Powell's Valley, Dauphin county, PA. Letters were issued on September 6, 1876 to Joseph Fetterhoff and Daniel Bonawitz after Johnathan's death, and a bond was posted in the amount of $4,607.00. Photos exist on Johnathan from an heirloom photo album once belonging to Sarah Ellen Sheetz. He appears in the publication: "Dauphin County Historical Atlas of 1875", reprinted in 1985 by the Dauphin County Historical Society, page 90, as residing in Jefferson Twp., as a farmer and owner of a flouring mill. The listing notes his birth (settlement) year as 1849, in the state of PA.
