|Birth: ||Sep. 2, 1842|
|Death: ||Jun. 11, 1900|
Eldest of three sons from his father's first marriage to Mary-Anna "Nancy" Drumheller (1819-1848), daughter of David Drumheller (1784-1837) and Barbara Bauer (1793-1880).
David's mother Nancy died when he was six years old. She was 28. Cause of death is unknown. David's widowed maternal grandmother, Barbara Drumheller, and his aunt, Nancy's youngest sister Caroline Drumheller, moved in with David and his father and kept house for them until David's father re-married to Anna Hoffman (1827-1899) in Oct 1850. Over the next 14 years Anna bore David eight half-siblings.
The fate of David's two younger full-brothers, Aaron and Albert, is unknown. Age one and three at the time of their mother's death, they may have been fostered to relatives. Neither was living with David and his father in 1850.
David left Pennsylvania for Ohio in 1865. He married Mary Myers in Tiffin on Nov 11, 1871.
A shoemaker by trade, in 1891 he opened a general store in Amsden, Ohio, and served as Amsden's postmaster 1897-1900. Upon his death the position passed to his son Jacob, who held it for the next 14 years.
David died at home of kidney failure after a two week illness.
