Devirl Phillip Curtis was born Sunday, May 28, 1911 in Moroni, Utah to Norman Cornelius and Matilda Marx Curtis.

He married Sylvia E. Hutchison on March 21, 1930; later solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. She died February 25, 1989.

Devirl passed away on Thursday, August 16, 1990 at Pioneer Valley Hospital in West Valley City, Utah. He resided at 3090 South 8950 West in Magna, Utah at the time of his death.

He was survived by children, Glade, Salt Lake City; Tom, Murray; Lorraine Southerland and Norman, West Valley City; sister, Marge Faye, Salt Lake City; 24 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by sons, William and Blaine, and two grandsons.

Funeral Services were held on Monday, August 20, 1990 at 11:00 a.m. in the Pleasant Green Third Ward Chapel of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints located at 8739 West 3000 South in Magna. A visitation was held on Sunday from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. at Peel Funeral Home located at 8525 West 2700 South in Magna, and on Monday from 10:00 until 10:45 a.m. at the Church.
Devirl was laid to rest following the conclusion of the Funeral Services at Valley View Memorial Park in West Valley City.
