"No one is ever gone as long as someone still has memories of them."- Ed Worthington

Diane was a twin, with Donna, and both were very much welcomed to a rather large family headed by Calvin Pearl, her father, and Charlotte Nicole, her mother. She had 6 surviving brother's and sisters, Peggy Jean, Norma Lee, Robert Wayne, Larry Eugene, Harold Lloyd and Donna Eileen! A brother Gary, precided her in death!

When Diane became ill from Pneumonia, my mother and father had to take her, by bus, to one of the local hospital's in Portland. In those days, they could not stay with the child at the hospital and when my parents left her, to return home, she was crying hysterically. Probably because of being left and in a strange place! As we know now, crying with Pneumonia is not a good thing and before my parents returned home, Diane died. I remember our phone ringing and my sister being told to have our parents call the hospital when they got home.

My mother went to heaven believing that, had she been able to stay at the hospital with Diane, instead of having to leave her, she would have survived. She knows for sure now!

When my sister's were born, twins were not real common in those days, and their pictures announcing their birth, appeared in one of the local Portland papers, The Journal I believe! I remember when I returned to class, from the Christmas break, I was a hit in my school because of them. The only celebrity status I've achieved!

A CHILD LOANED
I'll lend you for a little time
A child of mine, He said,
For You to love the while she lives,
And mourn for, when she's dead.
It may be six or seven years,
Or twenty-two or three,
But will you, 'til I call her back,
Take care of her for Me?
she'll bring her charms to gladden you
And should her stay be brief,
You'll have her lovely memories
As solace for your grief.
I cannot promise she will stay,
Since all from Earth return,
But there are lessons taught down there,
I want this child to learn.
I've looked this wide world over,
In My search for teachers true,
And from the throngs that crowd life's lanes,
I have selected you.
Now, will you give her all your love
Not think the labor vain,
Nor hate Me when I come to call
And take her back again.
I fancied that I heard them say,
Dear Lord, Thy Will be done,
For all the joy the child shall bring,
The risk of grief will run.
We'll shelter her with tenderness,
We'll love her while we may,
And for the happiness we've known,
Forever grateful stay.
But should the Angels call for her
Much sooner than we planned,
We'll brave the bitter grief that comes,
And try to understand.

To Someone's Precious Son........................We are connected...my child and I...by an invisible cord...not seen by the eye...It's not like the cord that connects us 'till birth...this cord can't be seen by any on earth....This cord does its work...right from the start...It binds us together....attached to my heart...I know that it's there...though no one can see...the invisible cord from my child to me......The strength of this cord is hard to describe...It can't be destroyed...it can't be denied.....It's stronger than any cord man could create....It withstands the test...can hold any weight.....And though you are gone...though you are not here with me....This cord is still there...but no one can see......It pulls at my heart...I am bruised...I am sore....But this cord is my lifeline...as never before......I am thankful that God connects us this way....A mother and child....death can't take it away!...............................Terri Apostolakas
