Charles B. DeWees, whose critical condition was mentioned in these columns last week, was dead before the paper reached its subscribers. The telegram announcing his deah was received here early Wednesday morning. He died at the home of his son, Charles, at Forst Scott, KS, on Tuesday afternoon of paralysis and heart failure. The remains were brought to this city and the funeral took place Thursday morning.

Mr. DeWees was born in Bemont County, OH, May 6, 1830. He was married at Amestown, Ohio September 4, 1851 to Miss Mary Gardner and after living in Ohio for two years, removed to Iowa.
