Virgie Denise Rose, 55, of York, S.C., passed away on June 25, 2013, after a long battle with breast cancer. She was born on Oct. 6, 1957, in Peoria, Ill., to the late Harold and Virginia Cruce. She is survived by her husband, J.B. Rose, as well as her sister, Jan Cawvey and her husband, Von of Anchorage, Alaska; her brother, Perry Cruce and his wife, Roberta of Peoria, Ill.; her brother, Jim Cruce and his wife, Kathi of Chino Hills, Calif.; and nine nieces and nephews. Virgie's greatest joy came from being with her kids and grandkids. She was a devoted and loving mother to Bo Culjan and his wife, Taylor of Savannah, Ga., Aaron Culjan and his wife, Sara of Charleston, S.C., Casey Yake and her husband, Greg of York, S.C., and Jamie Grunsky and her husband, Jason of Charlotte, N.C. She was also an amazing "Gigi" to her grandchildren, Anna, Tristan and Natalie Culjan and was very excited about the arrival of another grandchild due in January 2014. She worked at Catawba Nuclear Station in York, S.C., for 15 years as a mechanical drafter. In her spare time, Virgie had a passion for sewing, especially when it was for her grandkids. She loved her two cats, Harley and Davidson as if they were her children as well. We will be hosting a celebration of life gathering at her home in York, S.C., at 4 p.m. on July 13, 2013.
