Eula was born to Lee Roy Newton and Della Jane Stafford Newton, the second of their 6 children. She spent her childhood and early adulthood in the Ozark Mountains of Arkansas, a farmer's daughter. She met her husband, Bud McGowne, a schoolmate, there and they were married in December of 1936.
Eula took her work as a homemaker, farmer's wife and mother very seriously and performed spectacularly in that role. She and Bud had one daughter, Wilma, born in 1937.
Eula and Bud relocated to the Central Oregon Coast in the early 1950's where Bud went to work in the timber industry. They built a home in Eastside, then moved to a little farm along the banks of the Millicoma River where they grew a bountiful garden and raised beeves for their family. Eula was a wonderful farmer, seamstress, cook, fisherman, could bake like nobody's business and had an amazing head for figures, but her passion was her family. She was close to her parents and all her siblings, a wonderful and supporting wife to Bud,a loving mother to Wilma and a doting grandmother to her 4 grandchilren.
Eula lost her 13 year battle with cancer in April 1991. She is mourned and missed by all who had the honor to know her.
