Francis Raymond Scott Sr., 78, of The Oaks, died Friday, December 28, 2007, at the Regional Medical Center in Orangeburg.

Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday, December 30, in the First Southern Methodist Church in Orangeburg, with the Rev. Bedford Landers and the Rev. Marvin Clark officiating. Burial will be in the Crestlawn Memorial Gardens.

The casket will be placed in the church one hour before the service.

Pallbearers will be Marty Stroman, Calvin Hewitt, Donald Accordini Jr., Philip Accordini, Dallas Scott, Jason Krisle, Paul Cantley and Eddie Cook.

Mr. Scott was born in Anderson, February 22, 1929, the son of the late James H. and the late Pearl Lloyd Scott. He attended Orangeburg High School and the Armed Forces Institute in Madison, Wis. He served in the U.S. Navy and was a veteran of World War II, with service in the Alaskan and Hawaiian areas and the aircraft carrier, USS Princeton. He received the World War II Victory Medal, Good Conduct, and the American Service Medals. Mr. Scott worked at the Orangeburg Post Office for 34 years retiring as Superintendent of Postal Operations. Mr. Scott was active in Boy Scouts; he was a member, a Sunday School teacher, and chairman of First Southern Methodist Church. He was an avid traveler having visited all 50 states and European countries. He was an avid hunter, being a member of Pine Barren, Elloree, and President of the Bay Hunting Club. Mr. Scott was preceded in death by his wife, Mrs. Jessie Scott.

He is survived by his children; Sherry Stroman (Andy) of Bowman, Vicki Accordini (Don) of Lexington and Francis (Scotty) Scott Jr. of Orangeburg; his grandchildren; Calvin Hewitt (Renae), Marty Stroman (Tracie), Donald, Philip (Brandi), and Lori Accordini, April, Crystal and Dallas Scott, and eight dearly beloved great-grandchildren; a sister; Betty Scott Kilgus of Bamberg and a number of nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the residence of Andy and Sherry Stroman, 1825 Winter Creek, Bowman and at Thompson Funeral Home.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at McLees Fellowship Hall at the First Southern Methodist Church, 2690 North Road, Orangeburg.

Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.

Thompson Funeral Home Inc. of Orangeburg is in charge of arrangements.
