1931 December 2 - Rockville Tribune - OBIT: Mrs. John Deere, of Bloomingdale, died at the Robert Long hospital at Indianapolis, early Monday morning. Mrs Deere became seriously ill Friday and was taken to Indianapolis Saturday morning where she underwent a major operation.
She is survived by her husband, a son, Gordon, and a daughter, Mrs. Herschel Phillips of Montezuma, and five grandchildren.
Funeral services were held this morning at 10:30 at the Friends Church.
Mr. Deere suffered a broken hip several weeks ago and is still confined with a plaster cast.

Mrs. Etta Deer, 61, wife of John Deer of Bloomingdale died at two o'clock Monday morning in the Robert Long hospital, Indianapolis, where she had undergone an operation Saturday after having become ill suddenly Thursday. She had seemed to withstand the operation well and was believed to be recovering when news of the death came.
Mrs. Deer was born in Liberty Township, Parke County in the Rushcreek neighborhood. Her parents were Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Lindley and she spent her girlhood in the vicinity of her birth. She was married in 1891 to Mr. Deer who with a son Gordon Deer, a barber in Bloomingdale, and a daughter, Mrs. Audrey Phillips, wife of Hershel Phillips of this place, survived. Mrs. Deer was a birthright member of the Friends church in Bloomingdale and a demitted member of the Order of the Eastern Star.
The deceased is also survived by four brothers Erastus and Clyde Lindley of Bloomingdale, Clinton Lindley of Terre Haute and Dayton Lindley of Brazil; three sisters, Mrs. Ida Hanson of Bloomingdale, Mrs. Beulah Harvey of Yeddo and Mrs. Belle Lytle of near Veederburg.
