Daughter of Wilhelm Schultz and unknown mother. Caroline came over to the United States on the ship Rhein, at age 22, on September 22, 1856, immigrating through Castle Garden Immigration Center, New York City. Caroline married Karl Frederick Genschow before 1859 in Michigan. Karl died in 1894 and was buried in St. Paul's Lutheran Cemetery in St. Clair County. Caroline was living with her daughter and son-in-law, Otto and Bertha Prange,in Sanilac County when she died, and is is buried in the Prange plot in Hyslop Cemetery, Elmer Township, Sanilac County, MI. By that time, the name had been changed to Genshow (dropped the "C"). Later generations would change the name to the more American sounding Genshaw, as Genschow was pronounced Genshoff.
