Masonic graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday in Mountain View Cemetery for Arthur James (Barney) Barmes, who was pronounced dead on arrival Tuesday at Maricopa County Hospital. Pinal Lodge 30 will conduct the services.

Mr. Barmes was born Aug. 30, 1881 in Hope, Indiana. A resident of Arizona for 70 years, he had lived in Casa Grande for 54 years, moving here from Safford.

He owned and operated a barber shop at 121 N. Florence St. from 1943 until 1970. During the past 15 months he was a resident of the South Mountain Manor Nursing Home in Phoenix.

He was a lifetime member of the Hope Indiana Masonic Lodge, which he joined in 1910.

His wife, Flossie Wells Barmes, for whom the Casa Grande Historical Society Museum is named, preceded him in death in 1975.

Survivors include his daughter, Mrs. Nell Robinson, of Yuma; his grandchildren: Mrs. Barbie Davis, of Litchfield Park, and Tom Robinson, of Casa Grande; and two great-grandchildren.

Cole and Maud Mortuary, 215 S. Washington St., is in charge of arrangements.
