Howard's parents were William John Power Baldwin and Beatrice Adams (William was born in New York City and Beatrice was born in Latchford, Cheshire England). The fourth of five children, three siblings survived to adulthood: a brother George Richard Baldwin (7 September 1900 - 30 January 1982), Howard and a sister Beatrice Florence Baldwin (23 August 1913 - 22 May, 2003). Howard graduated from Panzer College, at the time a two year teachers' college, planning on teaching physical education. He taught swimming at the Y.M.C.A., enlisted in the Marines, worked as a park ranger in Yosemite, and ran a series of scout camps. His own scout camp in northern N.J. was destroyed by severe storms. After that he worked as a car salesman for Packard, earning distinction on Automobile Row. Called "Baldy" by his friends, he sported a full head of hair, that turned from blonde to white in his 20's!! During W.W.II he served in the Army Air Force as a military police patrolman guarding the U.S. war efforts at Eclipse-Pioneer Division of Bendix Aviation (1942-April 1945), and later worked as a chemical technician for Hoffmann la Roche. He met his future wife, Maude Amelia Rogers when her car conked out and drifted down a hill, right into the garage where he was helping out as a mechanic. They were married on 23 June 1945 in New Jersey. He was father to two children, Pamela and Howard Adams Baldwin, Jr. Howard, Sr. passed away from colon cancer at the age of 47. Maude worked to raise their two children before moving to California upon her marriage to Arthur E. Schillinger where she lived out her days. Nine years after Howard, Sr., passing Howard and Maude's son Howard, Jr. passed away in a tragic accident. Survivors include their daughter Pamela (David), a granddaughter Jennifer and grandson James, all of Buffalo, N.Y. While Howard's grave has a double marker with his widow Maude's name, she is buried in California with her son with her own marker.
