Ormond Leigh Haughwout, 59, 1141 Seward Drive, Hampton, died Tuesday in University Hospital, Charlottesville, after a long illness.
A native of Crittenden, he was a Peninsula resident for the past 28 years. An army veteran of World War Il, he was employed as a carman for C & 0 Railway Company for the past 25 years. He was financial secretary of the Brotherhood of Railroad Carman's Union, and was a member of Ebenezer United Methodist Church, Crittenden.
Survivors include his widow, Mrs. Grace L. Haughwout of Hampton; one daughter, Mrs. Darla Spencer of Hampton; three sons, S. Sgt. Sgt. Ormond Leigh Haughwout Jr. of Fort Monroe, Clifton McKee Haughwout and William Curtis Haughwout, both of Hampton; one, sister, Mrs. Alease Baily [abt 1922-2011] of Crittenden; two brothers, Alfred Clifton Haughwout Jr. [1912-1985], of Chesapeake and Joseph Francis Haughwout of Hampton and three grandchildren.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p. m. Friday in Peninsula Funeral Home by the Rev. Marvin White of Bethany United Methodist Church. Burial will be in Veterans Memorial Gardens, Hampton, with military rites [Hampton Memorial Gardens].
