Mrs. Trudy Barrier, age 93, longtime resident of Angleton went to be with the Lord Thursday, June 18, 2009, surrounded by family and loved-ones at her home in Angleton. Mrs. Barrier was born April 15, 1916 in Mahoningtown, Pennsylvania to Charles and Margaret Whorl and had nine brothers and sisters. She grew up in Girard, Ohio but moved to Texas in 1943 to be with her husband Billie Albright Barrier of Houston County, Texas. Mrs. Barrier was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She was a charter and long-time member of St. John Lutheran Church and a diligent worker for the Lord teaching Sunday school, Bethel Classes, Bible school and serving on the altar guild for many years as well as a dedicated member of the prayer partner group in which she delighted. Her life was a testimony of love to all who knew her. Mrs. Barrier's hobbies were many and the delight of many friends and family and included collecting angels and Mr. and Mrs. Santas. She loved craft projects to the delight of the recipients of her lovely creations and was a faithful member of St. Johns craft class. Her greatest earthy joy was family by whom she was most beloved. We celebrate her life and her memory will live on in us.

Survivors include her two daughters Kay Smitherman and husband Joe, of Angleton and B.A. Jones and husband Jimmie, of Conroe; six grandchildren Chris Smitherman and wife Ann, of Snook, Kim Smitherman and wife Jennifer, of Garland, Jeff Smitherman and wife Mary, of Magnolia, C.J.
