Meredith C. Brien, 86, died at 5:30 p.m. Friday, June 5, 2009 in Mary Rutan Hospital, Bellefontaine.

He was born Jan. 28, 1923 in Hardin County to Emmit A. and Nellie (Clinger) Brien. On Dec. 25, 1943 in Marseilles he married Avonell Parsell and she preceded him in death on Oct. 20, 2005.

Surviving are a daughter, Diana (Jim) Hill of Ridgeway; two grandchildren, Eric (Rhonda) Hill of Ridgeway and Emily (Ken) Stapleton of Ridgeway; four great-grandchildren, Garret and Logan Hill of Ridgeway and Elijah and Kennedy Stapleton of Ridgeway; a brother, Lester (Vera) Brien of Bluffton; and a loving companion, Mary Waller of Kenton.

He was preceded in death by a brother, E. LeRoy Brien.

He was a retired farmer.

He was a member of Epworth United Methodist Church.

He has traveled to Florida for the last 35 years and enjoyed shuffle board, horse shows and his many friends there.

Memorials may be made to Epworth United Methodist Church.

Services will be 11 a.m. Wednesday at Price Funeral Home in Mount Victory by the Rev. Don Flory. Burial will be in Hale Cemetery.
