LEMONS- Harold J. Lemons, aged 51, a World War II veteran of 4677 10th Street, Wayland, passed away Tuesday morning after a long illness. Surviving are his wife, Lillia A.; two daughters, Bernadette and Wanda; five sons, Mike, Stephen, Bob, Kenny and Donnie; a brother and two sisters. Mr. Lemons reposes at the Eggebeen Funeral Home at 330 Eastern Avenue, SE, where funeral services will be held Thursday afternoon at 1:30, the Reverend Ulysses VanDerMolen officiating. Burial in Hooker Cemetery in Leighton Township, Allegan County.

BIOGRAPHY

Harold Joseph Lemons was the son of Stephen J. and Mary E. Lorentz Lemons. He was born December 21, 1914 at 109 Pearl Street, Boyne City, Charlevoix County, Michigan. He enlisted from Boyne City into the United States Army in 1941 and served to the end of the war- completing his tour of service with Occupational Duty in the Philippine Islands. He was an avid photographer throughout the war, and was particularly proud of a large album of wartime photographs that he had taken during his tour of duty.

Harold married Miss. Lillia Magullen, on August 15, 1946 at Polo, Leyte, Philippines. Following the war, he returned to the United States with his wife, an adopted son and one child, and resided in Boyne City, Michigan for a time. He later moved his family to Wayland, Allegan County, Michigan. Harold Lemons died June 1, 1965 in Ionia, Ionia County, Michigan and is buried in Hooker Cemetery, Wayland, Michigan. His widow, Lillia Magullen Ross continued to reside in the Wayland area until her death in 2007.
