Joe enlisted in the Marine Corp March 7, 1966 in San Antonio, Texas. He died of a gunshot wound to the chest in the vicinity of Vinh Huy Nu, Loc Son Basin 8 kilometers east southeast of Que Son during Operation Union II. He was survived by his parents-Domingo and Verancia Moya of Bloomington, Texas.
