Karen Lea Guinn July 13, 1944 - January 13, 2014 Karen Lea Guinn, 69, passed away at St. Luke's Medical Center in Boise on Monday, January 13, 2014 after a long battle with diabetes and heart problems. Karen was born July 13, 1944 in Missouri to Wesley "Huck" and Mary Kimberling. Along with her older sister, Janis, and their big brother, Thomas, she grew up around the orchards of Washington State. As a young adult, she lived and worked in the Seattle area. The birth of her first child, Michael, started Karen in her true calling: motherhood. She cherished her time raising step-sons, Richard and Ronald, and continued to be "Mom" to them for the rest of her life. Karen welcomed more children into her life with her marriage to Jerry Guinn. She became "Mom" to his children Philip, Dallas, and Carmen, and together they had another daughter, Corina. They spent their life together, making many good friends, traveling and living throughout the West with Jerry's company, Gilbert Western. They eventually settled in Middleton. Although they divorced, Jerry and Karen remained good friends until his death in 2004. Karen's home in Middleton became a home away from home for many of Cori's high school friends, or as Karen called them, her "other kids." She will be fondly remembered by many MHS graduates as a second Mom, who was always welcoming and ready to feed the crowd. Being with her family was always her favorite way to spend her time, but Karen also enjoyed reading, doing puzzles, playing games, and an occasional trip to Jackpot. Wherever she was, she made good friends and she will be missed by all who knew her. Karen was preceded in death by her father Huck, her ex-husband Jerry, and two of her children, Dallas Elam and Carmen Anderson. She is survived by her mother Mary of Portland, OR, brother Thomas Kimberling and wife Arlene of Columbia City, OR, sister Janis Bonner of Portland, OR, son Mike Voiss and wife Patty of Middleton, son Phil and partner Rob of Meridian, daughter Cori Marchbanks and husband Scott of Caldwell, son Rich Brown of Auburn, WA, son Ron Brown of Norfolk, VA, 21 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 1 great granddaughter due in March, many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Burial: Cremated, Ashes scattered. Specifically: A memorial service is being planned for the 2014 Memorial Day weekend at the long-time home of Karen's parents in East Wenatchee, WA. All will be welcome to attend as her life is celebrated and ashes spread. - See more at: http://www.legacy
