Garnet Hazel Cooper, a 62 year-old Paintsville Elementary School teacher died on September 5 in a local hospital after months of declining health.
Born in Johnson County to Lula Salyer Auxier and the late G. G.Auxier, she lived on Third Street in Paintsville.
Immediate survivors include her husband, R. T. "Tommy" Cooper;three sisters, Mrs. Irene Britton of Louisa, Mrs. Ruth Hayes of Dayton, Ohio, and Miss Pauline Auxier of Manila; four brothers,Cecil Auxier of Paintsville, and Carson, Chester and G. G. AuxierJr. of Manila, and two sisters, Mrs. Alka Stapleton of Volga and Mrs. Ivy Meade of Louisa.
Services were held September 7 in the First United Methodist Church of Paintsville with the Rev. J. H. Burton officiating.
The Paintsville Funeral home was in charge of interment in the Wells-Buckingham Cemetery at Paintsville.
Mrs. Cooper's nephews served as pallbearers. Paintsville Herald Wednesday September 8,1971
