Widow of William Ledgerwood Moffett and mother of Miss Dean McLedge Moffett(Mary Ledger Moffett, aka M'Ledge).
Born near Warrensburg,Mo,her family moved to Cincinnati,Ohio while she was still an infant,where she grew up and was educated.She was a principle of schools in Cincinnati.
After her marriage she moved to Virginia,she was a pioneer in teacher training in Rockbridge county,where she was also supervising principal for 15 years.
At Radford University Moffett Hall is named for the family.
The 11 Aug 1909 Lexington Gazette says: Mrs. M. S. Moffett, principal of the Manassas Normal Training School, is visiting Mrs David E. Strain on Jackson avenue. Her daughter, Miss M'Ledge Moffett accompanies her.
