Named for a classmate of his father's at Williams College, Oliver Dimon, who was in the same class year 1840 as Hiram Warner. This Oliver had a degree in theology and MA as well. He died in 1855.

His older sister was Mary Emma (called Minnie ) who married the other Akin brother Henry. Her dates are 1845-1929. She is buried in Omaha findagrave #7491652.
His next sister was Kate Leland Farnsworth Akin (1845-1929) who married Carlos Graves Akin and is buried in Topeka Kansas-FAG #12306430.
