Her death certificate lists her parents as William L. Swink and Nancy A. Thompson Swink. In the 1860 Census she was living in District 19, Gibson County,Tennessee with her mother and father who was a farmer.
She and J. W. (John William) Betts were married by the Reverend Lloyd Richardson in Gibson County on 13 August 1872
In the 1880 Census, she and John William are living in the Walnut Grove Community outside of Rutherford,Gibson County. In the 1900 Census the family was counted twice: Civil District 23, Gibson county [John W. (49), Samantha (44), Ada (24), Bessie (22), George (16) Grover (7)] and Civil District 9, Weakley County.[William(50), Symantty (44), Ada (24), Bessie (22), George W. (16), Leva (7)]
In the 1910, District 23, Gibson county census, Cymantha is still listed as married but John William isn't on the census. Bessie, George, and Grover are still living at home.

Her obituary lists her as a member of the Salem Methodist Church.
