She was the daughter of Edmund Witt II and Sarah (Cook) Witt. She married Matthew Lamar in 1842 in Tennessee. He was killed in Pond Fork, Ozark County, Missouri by Bushwackers in 1861. They had 10 children. Charity married Nathan Turner Breshears in Dallas County Missouri on March 21, 1872. They lived near Buffalo on land beside the Niangua River. Her Grandson, Joseph Harv Keen made her Headstone and put the name Lamar on it.
