YEMASSEE - Services for Rita Youmans Benton, 89, of 200 Salkahatchie Road in Yemassee, will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Ridgeville Baptist Church with burial in the Zahler Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Kirby Bunton and the Rev. Spencer Brotherson and directed by Peeples-Rhoden Funeral Home in Hampton. Friends may call at the funeral home chapel after 6 p.m. tonight and Wednesday until 1 p.m., when the casket will be placed in the church prior to services.
Mrs. Benton died Sunday afternoon in the Bayview Nursing Home in Beaufort after an extended illness. Born in Hampton County, November 15, 1911, she was a daughter of the late James Bright Youmans and Ola Lee Zahler Youmans. She was a homemaker and was a member of the Ridgeville Baptist Church. She was married to the late Rufus E. Benton.
Surviving are daughter, Elizabeth Guilford, Yemassee; sister, Rudine Fitts, Yemassee; three grandchildren; six great-grandchildren.
