Guadalupe S. Guerra, Jr., passed on to eternal life Monday, May 16, 2011, in a Corpus Christi hospital after a prolonged illness. Lupe was born on June 11, 1934 to Guadalupe M. Guerra, Sr. and Dolores Saenz Guerra. He graduated from San Diego High School. He served his country in the United States Army. Lupe was a faithful and hard working employee for the Corpus Christi Fire Department Union # 936, starting as a dispatcher, and then to Lt., While a Lt., he was in charge of communications for the City of Corpus Christi Fire Department then promoted Captain working throughout the city of Corpus Christi. After retiring he moved to his ranch in Duval County as a farmer and rancher, his life's passion. He was a former employee of the SDISD and CCISD as a bus driver and then as a bus driver for the Senior Citizens Center in Benavides, Texas.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Guadalupe M. Guerra,Sr. and Dolores Saenz Guerra, one brother, Bernabe S. and one brother-in-law, Isaac Garcia.

He is survived by his two sons, Jose (Juanita) Guerra of Dallas, Texas and Daivd Guerra of Corpus Christi, Texas, three daughters, Mary Helen Guerra and Belinda (Mario) Garza both of Dallas, Texas and Hermelinda (Aubrey, Jr.) Mizell of Baton Rouge, Louisiana, two brothers, Estevan G. (Rebeca) Saenz of Bruni, Texas and Norberto (Amelda) Guerra of Premont, Texas, two sisters, Maria Flora Garcia of Corpus Christi, Texas and Gerardita (Ruben) Hinojosa of San Antonio, Texas, 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. till 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 18, 2011 at Mauro P. Garcia Funeral Home Chapel in San Diego with a Rosary at 7:00 p.m. that evening. Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday, May 19, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Francis De Paula Catholic Church in San Diego, Texas. Burial will follow at Santo Nino Cemetery in Rios, Texas with Military Graveside services conducted by the United Veteran's Burial Association of Alice, Texas and the San Diego V.F.W. Post # 8931
