Miss Mary Phillips Ferguson, age 86, of Boomer passed away peacefully at her Home Saturday, March 25, 2006.

Funeral services will be held at Zion Hill Baptist Church Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Miss Ferguson was born August 19, 1919 to the late Elisha and Retta Robinette Ferguson.

She grew up "on the mountain" in Boomer with her late sister, Annie Ferguson Pickering and her devoted, surviving sister, Kate Ferguson Phillips, widow of the late Hadley Phillips.

She was a member of Zion Hill Baptist Church. In 1985 at her retirement from the Boomer Post Office, she received a plaque for her "dedicated service and friendship to the Boomer Community" and the following poem by her friend and coworker Valerie Andrews:
"Mary: You are like a treasure that is hidden. Hidden only to those who don't know you. Nineteen years as Postmaster, you were dependable, honest sincere, caring and giving too. You are truly one of God's little treasures that is priceless indeed. To know you is a treasure to me. Cause your giving nature is a light for others to see."
