Aged Buckman Lady Is Called by Death
Last Thursday just before going to print the Journal received the news of the death of Mrs. Helen Brausen of Buckman, however, it was too late to herald the news in last weeks issue.
Mrs. Brausen passed away at her home in Buckman at 8:30 o'clock P.M. on Wednesday, March 10th. Her passing away was caused by apoplexy from which she was suffering the past 7 weeks. She was born in Butzheim, Germany, Jan. 15, 1848, 78 years ago. She came to America 59 years ago and 2 years later made her home in Milwaukee, Wis. Having lived in Milwaukee for 14 years she came to Morrison county where she has lived since.
Her marriage took place in 1871. She was the mother of twelve children, one of which died many years ago. The surviving children are, Mrs. Math Meyer of Agram, Mrs. Gust Luberts and Mrs. Sehr of Genola, Mrs. John Adams of Little Falls, Mrs. Ed. Voeghtheim of Foley, Mrs. Nick Dahmen, Peter and Jake Brausen of Hillman, Mrs. Jos. Weiling of Pierz, Henry Brausen of Mascon, Idaho and Math Brausen of Buckman, one brother and a step-brother, Frank Ruker of Wisconsin also survive. She was the grand mother of 120 children and great grand mother of 9 children.
Burial service for the deceased Mrs. Brausen was held in St. Michael's church at Buckman Saturday morning at 10 o'clock and burial followed in the Buckman cemetery.
