Mrs. John Erdman, 87, Resident of Geneseo 69 Years, Summoned

Mrs. John Erdman, a resident of this community 69 years, passed away at her home, 420 North College avenue, at 7:30 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 13, 1936, at the age of 87 years, 1 month and 23 days. She had been ill the past six weeks. Anna Pauline Hintz was born in Nickelsdorph, Germany, Dec. 20, 1848, the daughter of John and Elizabeth Renner Hintz. She came with her parents to this country, March 7, 1867, and settled in Edford Township where they engaged in farming. Anna Pauline was married to John Erdman in Geneseo and they spent most of their years on a farm near here. She was a member of St. Peter's Evangelical Church. Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Emil Meeske of Wyoming, Mrs. Otto Miller and Mrs. Albert Krueger of Geneseo; five sons, Theodore, Otto, John and Arthur of Geneseo and Emil of Moline; twenty-seven grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren. The husband and one son, Henry of Canby, Minn., preceded her in death. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday afternoon at Myers chapel with the Rev. F. O. Claussen officiating. Singers were Elmer Hintz, Miss Norma Hintz and Mr. And Mrs. B. J. Pobanz. Pallbearers were Wesley Miller, Herbert Erdman, Arley Krueger, Albert Erdman, Russell Erdman and Marvin Erdman, grandson of the deceased. Burial was in the Edford Cemetery. Among those from out of town attending the service were Mrs. Theresa Meeske and Mrs. Helen Graham of Wyoming, Mrs. Lillian Sweetland and John Frederick of Peoria, and Herbert Erdman of Chicago.
