Mrs. Virginia B. Cain of Lake Wales, Florida, and Windham, Maine (last 3 years) passed away on Sunday, August 26th, 2012.

She was born on September 1, 1917, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, one of six children. She left Altoona in 1939 to assume a secretarial position in the office of the late President Harry S. Truman, where she worked for seven years. Virginia moved to Lake Wales with her husband, Earl Maxwell Cain, and infant daughter, Kathy, in 1947. Her love for music was evidenced throughout her life, serving as the organist of the Lake Wales Lutheran Church for fifty years. In Lake Wales, Virginia was employed as a secretary for ten years at the Mountain Lake Corporation, for sixteen years at the Alcoma Packing Company, and for twelve years at the First Presbyterian Church of Lake Wales. She and her husband each had one thousand hours of volunteer work at the Lake Wales Medical Center.

Virginia's daughter, Kathy Cain Hajdaj, passed away in 2002, and Virginia's husband of sixty-one years, Max Cain, passed away in 2004. She is survived by her daughter, Linda Cain Mirone, and Linda's husband, Dominic, of Windham, Maine; her two grandsons, Blair Williamson and Ryan Hajdaj of St. Petersburg, Florida; four granddaughters, Kelly Ayer (husband Loren), Jennifer Carter (husband Clark), and Melissa Webber (husband Robert) of Portland, Maine, and Leah Richards (husband Graig) of Lehi, Utah.

She is survived by seven precious great-grandchildren: Julia Ayer, age 9; Amy Ayer, age 8, Ella Webber, age 7, George Ayer, age 6, Stephen Richards, age 3, Samuel Carter, age 2, and Carmella Richards, age 21 months.

Memorial services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, September 01, 2012 at the Lake Wales Lutheran Church with Dr. John Glamann officiating. Interment will be held at the Lake Wales Cemetery. Family will receive friends on Friday, August 31, 2012 from 6-8PM at the Marion Nelson Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Gosnell Memorial Hospice House, 11 Honeywell Road Scarborough, Maine 04074.

Friends and family are invited to the Three Oaks Bed and Breakfast for refreshments and fellowship after the service.
