Donald Orville Caraway was born 22 August 1929 in Alex, Oklahoma. He passed away on 25 December 1965 in Ripon, California as the result of a one-vehicle accident. He was 36 years old. He had been on his way to visit relatives in Modesto for Christmas.
Highway Patrol officers investigating the 1 A.M. accident surmised that he may have fallen asleep at the wheel. He was alone driving the car. His most recent residence had been in San Leandro, Alameda County, California.
Donald is survived by his mother, Etta Caraway, Modesto; sons Donald Wayne Caraway and Samuel Lawrence Caraway, both of Point Mugu; brothers/sisters Jack Caraway, San Bernadino; Ivan Caraway, Walters, Oklahoma; Olen Caraway, Garland, Texas; John Caraway, Harrison, Arkansas; Minor Caraway, Pamona, California; Leonard Caraway, Oweda Caraway Mangum, Edsel Caraway, Etta Caraway Robinson and Sam Caraway, all of Modesto, California.
His funeral services were held on 29 December 1965.
Pall Bearers were: Frank Mangum, Virgil Norton, Emery Robinson, LaVerne Robinson, Bob Lynch and Bob Tollison. Rev. J. Dale Martin officiated. Vocalists were Mr. and Mrs. Ray Phillisp. Organist was Beth Perry.
Salas Brothers Funeral Chapel was entrusted with the final arrangements. His burial was in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Modesto, California.
