Mrs. Henrietta Angel, 87, died yesterday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Mollie Angel Pringle, University Ave.
A daughter of one of the first white families in the Santa Clara valley, Mrs. Angel was born in Santa Clara, April 25, 1852. More than 60 years ago, only 12 years after new San Diego was founded, she went as the young bride of James N. Angel to their ranch at Mesa Grande, near Ramona. There her eight sons and daughter were born, there her husband died and she continued to make her home until she came to visit her daughter in her last illness.
Rogers mortuary is arranging services at the old family home in Mesa Grande, Friday morning at 11. Interment will be in the family burial plot on the Mesa Grande ranch. The Rev. Shirley Shaw will officiate.
Surviving the pioneer mother are her children, Mrs. Pringle, Hector, Vance, Verde, Fred, Philip, Grande, and Roy Angel, Escondido; Newton and Jack Angel, Mrs., 21 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.
