Brennan--was born in Decatur County, Georgia on 27 May 1851 (according to her death certificate) or 27 May 1852 (according to her grave marker). She was a granddaughter of James Overstreet, a U.S. Congressman from South Carolina. In the 1860 Census in Decatur County, Nancy (age 10) was listed in the household of her father H. B. Overstreet (49, farmer), along with her stepmother Amanda (20) [Henry Overstreet's third wife], and siblings Sarah (19), Eliza (16), Amelia (14), James (12), Martha (6), Sion (4), and Rubin C. (1).
