Dorothy Ashmore, 75, of Jonesboro, passed away at her home Thursday, Nov. 23, 2006. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 26, 2006 at Riley Funeral Home Chapel in Hamilton with burial in Ireland Cemetery.
Dorothy was born in Valley Mills, Texas, to the late Richard and Olivia Conrad Walsleben. On May 4, 1951, she was united in marriage to Floyd Adarion Ashmore and the couple shared 44 years of life together prior to his death on Sept. 16, 1995. To this union, three children were born. Family members said that Ashmore was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She retired from Jonesboro Public School after serving as a secretary for many years. She was a member of the Jonesboro United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Floyd; her parents; and sister, Diane Davis.
She is survived by her children, Ronald Ashmore, of Bonifay, Fla.; Paul Ashmore, of Jonesboro; and Karen Howard, of Shafter, Calif.; 13 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Laweta Tyler, of Burleson and Sylvia Moyer, of Hideaway; and uncles, Bill Walsleben, of Waco and Edwin Conrad, of Clifton.
