George William "Will" Jamieson was the son of James Jamieson and Elizabeth Clark, of Wayne, MI.

George "Will" and his wife Rose Temple grew up together as neighbors. They were married in 1884 at Mound Valley, Labette, Kansas. Grandson, Elmer Wieland, remembered his grandfather as being gruff and a tea-totaller, who later in life worked in the coal business.

A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE FAMILY OF GEORGE WILLIAM JAMIESON AND ROSE TEMPLE

In about 1915 Father started buying potatoes in Northern Michigan, shipping them to Wayne for resale to stores and individuals. It was merely a seasonal sideline. He became fascinated with the beautiful lakes and purchased a tract of land adjoining Lake Pine Charlevoix near Boyne City. They built a home there and moved from Wayne in 1921. They had a very beautiful home in a wonderful scenic setting and lived there the rest of their lives.

Father never completely retired from business. He purchased several old houses and moved them across the lake on ice to rent as summer cottages. He invested what money he had in real estate and received enough income to live comfortably. Both he and my mother were hard workers. They saved their money and while their fortune was comparatively small they always had enough to live simply, which was the way they wanted to live.

They were religious people. Both had Sunday School classes in the Wayne Congregational Church when I was small. Father kept up his Sunday School work through out his lifetime. He even had a class of men when he was visiting in California. Both had funeral services in the Wayne Congregational Church and are buried in the Glenwood cemetery family lot in Wayne.
