The death certificate, for Andrew Joseph McCord shows that his father was Joseph McCord and his mother was Naomi Baker.
The 1850 census for Allen, Allegany, NY shows Andrew J. McCord and his family with Noma (sp?) Baker and daughter, Harriet, age 10. It is believed that "Noma" Baker was actually Andrew's mother, Naomi, and that Baker was her surname by a second marriage. If so, she is likely Naomi Titus McCord, daughter of Gilbert Titus and Jane Hoag, Quakers from Beekman, Dutchess, NY.
We know from church records that Naomi/Neoma Titus was removed from fellowship for marrying out of their faith and to a man by the name of McCord, 1813.
If the above proves true, then Joseph McCord and wife Naomi Titus would most likely be the parents of Gilbert T. McCord, b. 1820, NY and died 7 Feb, 1884 in Ionia Co., MI. Other children might be Jane (McCord) Duffy and Hester A. (McCord) Underhill.
Any help to prove or disprove is welcome!
