OBITUARY – Times Citizen, 23 JAN 1993

SIOUX FALLS, SD – Huldah Jakobs, 94, of Sioux Falls, SD, (formerly of Iowa Falls) died Wednesday, Jan. 20, 1993, at Good Samaritan Village in Sioux Falls. Services will be held Saturday, Jan 23 at 3 p.m. at First Congregational United Church of Christ in Iowa Falls with burial in Jackson Township Cemetery, Owasa. Rev. Richard Fylling will officiate. Visitation will be from 1:30 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the United Church of Christ.

Huldah was born October 25, 1898 to James and Elizabeth Gundrey Westaby at Apple River, Ill. She graduated from the Hampton High School in 1919 and received her teaching certificate from Madison, SD. On June 29, 1929, she married William Jakobs on her parents' farm near Alexander. The couple farmed near Alexander for 12 years before moving to their farm southwest of Iowa Falls. Huldah operated a hatchery in her home during the depression. She was a former member of the First Congregational United Church of Christ in Iowa Falls.

Survivors include two daughters, Mildred Fuller of St. Louis, MO, and Vera Kocon of Sioux Falls, SD; six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and one sister, Mary Jones of Hampton. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, and two brothers.
